(Aleppo, Syria) – On November 15 members of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent led a humanitarian convoy to eastern Aleppo, via the International Damascus-Aleppo Road. The aid was delivered to the relief agency’s warehouses before being distributed to communities in Aleppo’s eastern neighbourhoods.
Donated by the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Aleppo, the aid convoy consisted of 12 trucks, each loaded with items from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The aid included mattresses, blankets, detergents, adult and baby nappies, kitchen tools, plastic sheeting, nutritional supplements for children, and various medications.
Damascus Bureau’s Ammar Abdallah accompanied the convoy and took the following photographs.
