Photoblog: Back to School in Opposition-Controlled Aleppo

The school year started in Syria in mid-September. Several schools in opposition-controlled parts of Aleppo have been partially or completely destroyed. Charity organizations have started to rebuild some of the damaged schools, or tried to provide makeshift schools for Aleppo’s students.

In Al-Shaar neighbourhood life has returned to a relatively normal state after fighting subsided recently.

Several schools have been taken over by armed factions. This school, in Saliheen neighbourhood, is now a headquarters for Al-Nusra Front.
