A map of Syria on Azadi Friday

Posted on | Mai 22, 2011 | 1 Comment

The map shows the location of protests around Syria on Friday, May 20, dubbed “Azadi Friday”. Azadi means Freedom in Kurdish. The map also includes (preliminary) figures of protesters killed in the different towns (the actual number has been confirmed to be much higher) and the use of tanks and live ammunition.

The information was gathered by a network of Human Rights activists in Syria.

The word “AZADI” is a Iranian word. It is also used in Kurdish because Kurdish is a branch of Iranian language (The Study of Languages, George Yule, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY). Anyway, it is not very important where the word is from, it is important to gain it. I, as an Iranian, hope you do.
